Dr. Gruenberg’s passion and expertise is working with young people and their families.With nearly 30 years of experience, he brings a fresh and innovative, yet seasoned and constructive approach to the clinical setting.

Robert A. Gruenberg was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1954 and was the third of four sons of Joyce and Jerry Gruenberg. When he was 16, he and his family moved to Westchester County, New York where he graduated from Mamaroneck High School. In 1972 he returned to the Midwest and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He graduated with a Distinguished Scholastic Record.

After college, Robert worked in a drug treatment center in Madison, a group home in South Boston, and a residential summer camp in Northern Wisconsin before returning to graduate school. He received his Master of Arts degree from Antioch University with a focus in Developmental Clinical Psychology. In 1985, he received his Doctorate in Psychology from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Gruenberg has been a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Wisconsin since 1987. In addition to providing individual and group psychotherapy to children, teenagers, and adults, his resume includes working with Head Start programs, inner-city hospitals, non-profit youth service agencies, residential treatment centers, and teen mother group homes. He has also taught college psychology courses to undergraduate students and trained and supervised psychology graduate students and psychiatric residents in group psychotherapy. He is on the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Robert is a founding Certified Group Psychotherapist, sponsored by the American Group Psychotherapy Association. He also serves as a consultant to several schools in the metropolitan Milwaukee area. Dr. Gruenberg has a full-time private practice.

My commitment and interest in parenting issues evolves out of working with children, teenagers, young adults and their families as a camp counselor, drug counselor, school counselor, clinical psychologist, and consultant. I have been married for over 35 years to my wonderful wife, Susie and we have two incredible daughters, Zoë and Mia.
